In May 2008, the Veteran’s Health Administration (VHA) initiated the "Let’s Get Certified Campaign," providing significant pay and recognition incentives for achieving specialty certification. Because the VA values specialty certified nurses, the campaign is designed to increase the number of certified nurses, which they believe will in turn enhance patient care and improve recruitment and retention of nurses. Now in phase III, the VHA continues to promote the “Let’s Get Certified Campaign”, with the hopes to increase the percentage of certified nurses.
